Selling lavender split amerucanas

Yes I sell them all for $4 a piece. They are amerucanas and I figured that was a good price. Everyone doesn't seem to want straight run. That is my other problem I suppose.. straight run black chicks. I prefer black chickens. But my light brahmas and my Easter eggers go so much faster.

I was gonna say... I paid $20 for my Ameraucana! Sell the lavenders for more. It'll make the blacks look like better value, and obviously you don't have any problem selling the lavenders so you are selling yourself short. I'd go for $8-$10 if it were me.

Its nice that u prefer Black. But that is quite uncommon. Most people, unless they are breeding or showing, prefer color of some sort. Many are just for egg laying pets/ hobby.

Like our chicks. I have 1 all black Easter Egger (that my daughter picked out) The rest are all a variety of different colorful chickens.
I think black chickens are like black cats. Always the hardest to sell/home. Just my opinion.

I added 16 Black Australorps to my flock this spring. Some are cockerels and will go in the freezer, but I really like them. I think they are beautiful. They look like big black crows, and I have a theory that they will help keep hawks away. Time will tell I guess.

I've been having a hard time selling lavender split chicks.. they are solid black and I've noticed they move slow. Anyone else run into this? I'm thinking I might move away from breeding lavenders..

Lavender is a recessive gene that modifies black to look lavender so they do have black underneath. If you breed lavender to lavender you should get 100% lavenders. I don't know what your breeding flock looks like but get rid of everything not Lavender and your problem is solved.

I would do this, except breeding lavender to lavender makes the feather quality poor. So I will always keep black spilts in my flock.
