Selling some birds, but need help with reasonable price?

I'm trying to sell some roos now. I'm doing 7 for the 25 week olds (they're very tame too) and 3 for the 18 week olds(they aren't very tame)

I know how you feel about not wanting them to be fighters. I've had about 5 people try and buy my Phoenix to fight. I wouldn't worry to much though, because people are generally not animal-hating monsters. (Yeah, I'm talking about you people who fight their dogs and chickens!!!!!)

And I agree with donrae, they wouldn't do much good for them either.

Good Luck!~Ms. B

Good luck selling yours! I ended up getting $7 each for the 13 wk old buff cockerels, $5 each for the 5 week old pullets and $3 for the 5 week old cockerels and I couldn't bring myself to take the golden comets to sell...... Though I think I could have easily gotten $15 or $20 for them! I sold all that I took and would actually really like to take more again.

I did. I'm thinking I might pick some more chicks up at the auction and once they grow out of that "ooohmigosh! too cute!" phase, I'll just take them to the flea market! I see it as a win-win situation! *giggle fit* The husband, on the other hand, wants our guest bathroom back.........

I hate to think about what's going to happen to them, but I sold ALL of the 5 week old cockerels to little kids!

And the person who bought the 2 buffs said he was going to keep one to breed with some of his birds and probably eat the other!

I know I can't control what happened to them once they leave the farm.

I am trying to be all zen about it................. *sigh* it's a work in progress!

It's life. Many young birds in nature die in the first week (snakes and all sorts of predators) or don't even hatch (something raided the nest).

Your birds are already beating the odds just getting up to 10 weeks age or more. What else can you do?

Who knows? The birds may impress someone - might be given a chance - might get turned into a yard pet and live six years. Just let 'em go and keep doing your thing.

Having a chance, if fleeting, is sometimes the best we get in this life.

Ok, my husband just said something that scared me to death....... No one would buy the roos to fight would they? Oooomigosh----I'd rather them be eaten than fought!

Oh dear heavens.... I can see me turning into one of those hoarder ladies that won't give her dogs and cats up because something bad might happen to them, only with chickens! I'm in trouble!
I was just getting ready to type this when i read this yes getting roos for fighting esp at flea market for cheap is more and likey the out come for your roos

No, that's like an urban legand as far as I know. Your roosters would be totally useless to serious fighters. Just like no one is going to take your black lab and throw it in with their fighting pit bulls.
this is not true well at least where I live dogs are taken out of yard and those running streets as practice dogs for the fighting dogs and when there tore up or dead they are thrown away. same with roosters. I dont know what urban you live in but it happens all the time.
