Selling Turkeys ?

I have tried to Sell some of my 17 Red Bourbon Turkeys on Craig's List I posted them at 8 weeks of age to sell at 10 weeks of age they are now over 12 weeks of age now and are eating me out of house and home LOL.
I received no less than a dozen emails asking me to save them some turkeys that wanted to buy.
I thought more buyers than I had Turkeys and then the dead line came for them to go threw with there purchase and nothing I emailed them back and no reply these were all people in my area bunch of looky loos.

I posted here as well but no reply of course there may not be any one here in my area that wants to buy.

Any helpful suggestions.

My experience with the general population is that lots of people talk big until the money is due. I no longer accept empty promises in lieu of hard cash. Nor will I hold anything for more than drive time today unless I've been paid for it.

None of this "hold it until I get paid next Saturday". I tell them to call back on Saturday and see if it is still available.

You are going to have to advertise again to find homes for them.

I am not quite sure why you could not sell them at 8 weeks.

I wanted to better my odds of having Toms and Hens for Breeding not all were for sale just to reduce my numbers I had to order from out of state minimum order 15 they sent 17.
Since this was my first year raising them I did not know what my loss might be and came threw with 100% some surplus at over 12 weeks now and still 100%.

I did not hold any turkeys for anyone I was advertising in advance of the sale date.

Require a deposit. If you have a paypal account, just tell people you require a 50% deposit to hold the turkey. Creating an invoice is very easy, make it clear that all deposits are NON-refundable. I deliver pullets form where I live about 70 miles north once a week. I have gotten stuck with chickens and no buyers UNTIL I started requiring a deposit before committing to deliver. I haven't gotten stuck with any yet!!!
