Does anyone have any tips or tricks on keeping roosters

Don't baby them if you're inexperienced. Don't be afraid to decide that one is too aggressive and replace him

Make sure he has lots of space, keep him with other chickens, preferably not other roos, and give him a lot of hens to be around. (At least 2)

do you know how many square feet he needs in the run and in the hen house. The run is about 300 square feet and the hen house is 136 squar feet and 8.5 feet tale with one 3x4 platform they walk on about 2.5 feet down from the roof. and we have 8 laying hens and 4 laying/meat hens.

I think it's the same as hens for 1, but you'll want more per male if you have multiple. I don't follow the recommendations though like anlaw for my flocks

That's a perfect place to keep a roo! It'll work well. But you should get a breed that goes well temperament-wise so the others don't fight.

He is a Welsummer.

I'm not experienced with that breed, but I don't think I've heard anything bad about then

You need a lot of luck, and a sharp knife if you don't get the luck.
