I’m Karen. I was gifted 6 chickens last year from my daughter. The coop was enclosed but the yard was weak. They free ranged in the woods and they were massacred during the day by a crazed raccoon. I waited a year, built a 600 sq ft enclosed fort knox around the coop and so far so good. Many questions which are always answered by this forum.

Welcome to Backyard Chickens!

Unfortunately, when free-ranging there is always the predator risk.
Sounds like you’ve got the situation under control.
As @DobieLover has already asked about material, I’ll just say it is Important to choose wisely.
