I live in canada, my birds are in an old corn crib.
It's great in ththe summer, offers shadeand a nice breeze.
In winter we wrap it in Insulated tarps that my hubby uses (concrete guy) birds free range all day year round. Have yet to have any problems with frost bite. As long as everyone is dry and there is good bedding everyone is happy and healthy
We keep it simple

Hello from Wyoming...I don't insulate but do check for eggs frequently to prevent them from freezing. The flock has been fine through the past 4 winters we've been here.
