Not hens. Just some pictures of my boys! 1 Buckeye Roo who is sweet as they come, 1 Lavender Orpington, a gentle giant. 1 Midnight Majesty Marans ( the Barred One) who lost part of his comb this last winter even with heat lamps in the coop. And 1 Black Jersey Giant who also lost part of his comb.

I do have some hens that were laying some eggs this morning. The smaller black hen which is a Jersey Giant is setting on a clutch of eggs. The others are just laying. They are Calico Princess, Buckeye, and Midnight Majesty Marans.

Nice! Where'd you get your marans?

I got my Marans from Hoover, However I did a special ordered through L and M fleet since our post office closes at 10 am. I did not want to take the chance they would sit in the Post Office over night. L and M Fleet will take care of them until you pick them up. Midnight Majesty Marans are a Cross between Black Copper and Cuckoo Marans all are black at hatch with some markings, the Roos will get the cuckoo pattern and the females stay black. I wanted a darker egg layer and these cost less than the pure breeds. I put some eggs in the incubator a couple of days ago, the darkest eggs are from my Midnight Majesty Marans. Although my eggs will hatch out as mixed breeds, I am excited to see what they will look like when grown. Here is a photo of the eggs.

It's a little hard to see, but here's two of my Pheonix brooding. The female is Roam and the male is Freddy Mercury. They're siblings from the same nest and are about 8 months old. They've been on the nest for over a week now
