I've separated my drakes from my females since I have more males and I don't want the girls to get beat up. One of my girls lays but the other doesn't. They are all the same age, hatched last June. Yesterday I gave a pair to a dear friend so I now have 2 runners drakes, pekin drake, 2 female runners........ but one female was hatched last June and the other female was recently hatched Jan. 7th. So, my question to all you wise water fowl owners...... when will it be safe for the January girl to be with a drake. It would be to soon for her right now, right? The boys just want to mate and I figured the January girl isn't even laying eggs yet so I'm guessing it is best to keep her apart at this time. She will be 2 months old in a few days and does get along fine with the female. What are your thoughts on this????

I'm still learning about ducks and there behaviors.

Thanks, that's what I was thinking. Now that I only have 1 mature female I'm keeping the 2 month old with her. Soon I will have 12 ducklings in with the two girls soon. I'm only keeping 4 of them which are females. The rest are all booyysss....... ugh. At least I have a home for the boys
