Separating hens from larger flock to join a lonely rooster

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.

I would pick two hens that you know are friends with each other and preferably are not two that routinely hang around with your current rooster. That way you aren't taking his favorites and you'll be putting two hens in with the second rooster who already get along so hopefully they'll form a happy little flock.
That makes a lot of sense! Thank you! Should I put them in a small cage to get them used to him or can I just put them in and keep an eye on them?

Hiya, and welcome to BYC! :frow

I would do exactly what @DobieLover said and pick two hens out for him. I would just put them in with him since they're all adults and see how it goes. If it seems he's a little too excited about it and the hens run from him, then I'd resort to penning the hens up near him for a few days so he calms down about it.
