This is my mallards 2nd yr for hatching babies, last yr she only hatched 3 and the didn't make it (1 drowned, 1 the dog got & 1 the goose sat on. This yr she has hatched 10! I'm so excited

I put a little fence wall between her & the other ducks & goose so the babies won't get squished, but I was wondering if it would be better to take the babies inside with a heat lamp. It's supposed to get chilly tonight

Suggestions & comments please

They may be just fine - how cold, and does the shelter she's in generally hold the cold out pretty well? I would make sure she's well fed and watered so she can keep them warm. You could also check on them in the wee hours….

I am not a hatcher, this is just based on what I have read here. Perhaps @Miss Lydia or @Going Quackers could share their experience.

those dont look like mallard babys... just wondering, did you put other duck eggs under her?

I have a female Mallard a female Chinese runner a male Peking and a gander. the mallard sits on all the eggs, I can't wait for them to grow up so I can find out what they are!
