My first post! We have 4 pekin ducks (3 female and 1 male) and are excited to start getting some eggs very soon. We would like to get some eggs for eating and also some for hatching. Do we need to separate the male at any point?

Thanks!

Thanks for the response. We do not want the hens to brood at all, but want to make sure some of the eggs are fertile - so should they be separated if we want that to occur? Then put the male in once we want fertile eggs.

I would just leave them be to do their businesses as usual. When you want fertile eggs just take the eggs out for their intended purpose. Its been my experience that the males aren't as crazy as the females when it comes to their eggs
