I am getting a new drake for my two girls but don't know if I need to keep him seperated and if so for how long? (I do keep my birds all together in a hen house - turkeys, chickens and ducks) Will I need to worry about him flying off? My girls think they are chickens (raised with 6 chicks as babies) so I have not had to worry about that.

Its a good idea to keep new birds isolated for a few weeks, just in case they have a disease. So, I would isolate him.

Is your chicken/duck area fenced in? He'll likely fly/run away if he isn't familiar with the territory and isn't fenced in. To prevent him from flying, you can clip one of his wings. This will prevent him from leaving by air.
