ok ready for round 2 of lockdown. round 1 was a complete bust. the one egg that made it to lockdown died sometime during lockdown. when i opened it, it hadnt even piped the internal membrane
. i have 7 serama eggs in now, hoping to hatch this weekend
I had the same thing happen during lockdown of my last batch.
They were just fine when I locked them down. We had a power failure, but I left them in until day 26....hoping against hope. When I opened them up, none of them had pipped internally....fully formed, beautiful babies....I was sick. After my quails have hatched I'm going to give it another try....I want some silkies pretty bad. The same person is going to send me some more of them. They're coming from Cali. Out of the 5 she sent, 3 of them made it to lockdown, so I know it's at least possible to get them that far, and am determined to try again.
Hello All, I'm in lock down with 8 Lavender D'uccle. These were shipped eggs which are in my new octagan 20 from brinsea, everyone of these shipped eggs looks to be containing a baby, hope they all hatch.

Yah, those guinea eggs can hatch early - and they are crazy little guys when they come out so watch out. As I've said before they are like chicks on crack.
As for me, there's at least 10 little beaks in the brinsea at the moment. I'll probably break down and take them out as soon as the one with a BIG pip gets out and dries as I get worried about them all being packed in there like sardines past about 10 chicks or so. But they are so adorable! it's like a sea of fuzz.
Can't tell what's happening with the other 10 or so eggs cause it's just all chick in there.
So far, we have 10 adorable sweet lovable silkies!! And lots of pips too! Wow, I love fluffballs!
I was able to fit 39 eggs in the Eco 20. You have to remove all the divider bars, and set the eggs standing straight up (not lying on their sides).
As the days went by, I candled and threw out the duds, and at that time, the eggs had more room in the bator. I laid them on their sides at this point. I prefer to incubate eggs on their sides anyways.
Here are some incubator pics. The babies jumped the barrier inside, so I have no idea which chicks came from which eggs. Oh well, I love them all no matter what!
I just took 12 out of the Brinsea and one more just hatched.I can see at least three more with pips!
pics to follow. You guys will have to help with me with 'what do I have here'.
Ok, any guesses? I have the following in there and I can't look at the shells yet: 5 cuckoo maran, 3 blue splash maran, 5 BLRW, 3 light brahma, 1 standard cochin and three blue orp. None of these are blue orp, but I have one in the bator waddling around. Here's some of the early chicks:
BLRW?
Cuckoo Maran?
maran? I know I have at least one darker egg hatched.. hmm..
