Hello everyone,
I am always grateful for everyone's help. I posted pics yesterday and today of my newborn serama chicks. I hatched them via incubator. I know they are tricky but I had a 2 out of 3 hatch (my own serama pair were the parents). The other chick who hatched second was always after this chick in terms of pecking or following it. They hatched less than a day apart. I just went to check on them and the yellow one had passed away, lying on her back, head and eyes seemingly swollen. She was still warm.
*Any ideas?
**And can my single chick survive alone til I can integrate her into my flock when she has aged appropriately?
Thank you so much for all of your help. I truly appreciate it! She was eating and drinking and warm and had no visible issues upon hatch or over the past 2 days.....View attachment 1737490

You may want to use a mirror to provide 'company' for the single chick.
Excellent, that makes good sense and I am willing to try anything :). I have been reading and noted the mirror recommendation along with a small stuffed animal or clean featherduster for company :). Thank you so much for responding and helping me, I truly appreciate it :).

on the one that passed, was its eye too large? It was turned away so couldnt see it well.
Seramas make great broodys if your wanting to increase what you have. Just let mama do it. I cant get mine to stop. I tried for a long while to incubate them and didnt have much luck. Sorry for the loss.

Thank you so much :). Momma goes broody off and on but she isn't consistent. She and the roo are young so I am guessing as she matures it may get better? :). The chick's eyes were enlarged at/after death but not before. I know seramas are challenging, but I stil feel badly. Thank you again :).
