I have seen some very nice American Seramas with nice chests. There is a standard (in progress) to shoot for. Just pick the best ones that you find closest to the standard and breed them. This one was pretty flat chested till he was about 10 months old

This lil boy is pretty young (5-6months) but when he gets older I know he will develope a rounder chest

Just work with what you got and you can improve it

My serama's look more like tiki244, I have one serama who is on the big side but he has the traits (type) I need. all of his babies are small. sometime pairing a larger roo to a small hen will get you small adults. I have a chick that just hatched who is just a bit bigger than a silver dollar. small to small is not away good you get all sizes.

SCNA I believe is Serama Club Of North America


Other band is put on when they test for pollurum and maybe avian flu depending on which state.


All Seramas in North America come from original stok Imported from Malaysia by Jerry S and 1 other person with him.

I do have a silkied serama that has a very good stance more like the 'standard' with tail touching back of head. I just dont have a pic of him now.

Serama are land race so they will vary much when breeding them. Just continue to breed good to good and dont separate for colors. It is too early in this 'breeds' history to be doing that yet. Just type and only if they are real huge size. Sounds like you have some good starter birds.

Although I got my origional stock from Jerry's Seramas (Who imported them) I believe mine are "Americanized" Seramas.
This is Baby Sarge, son of Sarge from my origional stock. Baby Sarge is 7 years old.

And here is Sarge, (In front) with Baby Sarge. Sarge is not deceased.

The SCNA is the breed club of the american serama. About 99 % of seramas in america came from 1 person, Jerry Schexnaydor, so Maylasian and American Seramas are about the same thing. The leg band identifies who the birds came from. If you go to scnaonline.org and click on leg band registry, then find the right year and letter you can find out the breeder.
