Hi all! I've read a lot of threads as well as the post about assisting a hatch. I know it says not to intervene for 24 hours but others say to help if the chick stopped zipping. This is our first hatch so we are nervous :(

This chick pipped yesterday at 3pm, then started zipping by 1am. Between this morning and now (2pm) it hasn't made any progress. The membrane looks white and every once in a while it rocks and peeps. We have two other viable eggs in our brinsea mini advance that have not yet pipped.

Should we take it out to assist or keep waiting? Thank you for your advice!

It looks ready it doesn’t look like it would hurt it if you did I would.

Thank you all so much! We helped - both membranes were pretty hard and dry. Should we keep helping or let it hang out to do the rest?

It seems like some of the membranes are stuck. It is really cheeping but not uncurling. We keep putting it back in because when we are helping it pushes and we think it will pop out!!! But then when it's back in the incubator it seems stuck again.

It is probably weak from fighting so long. However the danger with these chicks that are stuck is that their navels do not heal bc there was no room in the egg for it to close up. So instead pf pulling the chick out, keep peeling away shell and membrane until all that's left is the shell over the navel. Then if it looks healed or the shell falls off, it's ok. Have a ton of cornstarch ready it's saved my chick's lives before.

We got him out!!! Thank you all so much for the guidance. What a relief. He's now flopping around like a fish out of water. 👏🏼🤗
