This is a pic of my 3 week old chick. Mom is black and white mottled serama and dad is bantam calico cochin. He/she has feathered legs like dad and three toes like mom. I'm curious if anyone can tell by her feathers who she may resemble when older? Thank you!

The colors look like my calico cochins, but the baby looks somewhat barred instead of calico. The feathers can change quite a bit between now and full growth though.

We hatched out a batch of 9 chicks and 1/2 of ours looked very similar. However they have changed so much as they have grown and I am not sure that Seramas breed true to color? Our little yellow/silvery ones are the reddish ones that are turning more grey/black/reddish. It will be exciting to see what they look like as adults!

How old are they in the 2nd pic? They are beautiful. I see no comb on one of them. Is that unusual or no...? I'm excited to see what Little BB looks like when older.

Thank you! In the second pic they are 9 weeks old. At this point I may have only 2 females out of the bunch so far, all of the ones with red combs I'm pretty sure are males. It was an unexpected hatch, the female Serama hid her clutch of 9 eggs under a coop and we had all 9 hatch!!

Wow that's great! Or is it?

LOL well, for us it's just part for the course right?!🤣😅 I'm not a breeder but just enjoy having quality birds, so unless it so happens that we have a rooster that someone wants and can pick up locally, they will enjoy their days hanging with their flock mates and free ranging 🐔🐤!! Maybe next round we will get 7 ladies and 2 boys!!

I'm guessing I have a little rooster by the looks of yours, but that's okay. Your little Serama momma was quite the sneaky one!

It's hard bc until the combs/waddles start turning red it's difficult to tell and I'm not an experienced breeder who knows straight off the bat! Both of my supposed females don't even have combs or waddles right now!
