Beautiful!

I lost one of my babies overnight. I have no idea why. I was concerned about 1 having pastybutt but it was the one that seemed fine that died. Now I have a single chick crying for its hatch mate. This can be a heartbreaking hobby.

Sorry you lost a baby, that is hard! My Sparky was a lone chick for 3 weeks before I could hatch him a friend... things kept happening to the eggs and non hatched. He and I sure bonded though.
I hope yours get a friend soon!

I think I predicted I would have a chick explosion and it has arrived! I have about 25 chicks of various ages in brooders. I have 4 hens with 11 chicks and 3 more gone broody... sigh...

I was hoping to hatch more pullets and it is going pretty well with one hatch of 5 pullets out of 5 and looks like the last hatch is 6 pullets out of 8, with 3 frizzle hens! It is crazy good luck. Of course I have a boat load of roos already and don't need more. I sold a couple roos the other day, it is amazing when people want roosters because usually they write to see if I will sell 2 or 3 hens.

My favorite little frizzle hen died last month sadly. I already had hens sitting on her eggs so I hope I get some hens like her. I just hatched her last egg in the incubator the other day, I wasn't sure I could do it because it was so small. It is a chipmunk striped chick and so cute. I hope she is a she and a frizzle.

I have a bunch more eggs due in the next couple days.

I am really happy to hear that your incubator has been raining pullets on you! Awesome! I am sorry to hear about your loss, though. I hope she went peacefully and that her baby turns out to be a reminder of everything good about her.

My pullet from my first hatch laid her first egg yesterday! Cracked it opwn and it was fertile! She is with my young roo Amethyst who is some... weird splash looking boy? It is impossible to figure him out, he reminds me of chimeric snakes. I plan to put her with my growing chocolate roo, (hello sex linked chicks) but I might hatch some of theirs to see if he's splash since she's a blue.

That is so exciting, first eggs are the best! Can't wait to see what her chicks look like!

She went broody and is on a few of her own eggs! She is a broody MONSTER. She will get up off the nest to run after you, jump, and bite + kick like an angry rooster with a pepper up his rear! Screams louder than my boys crow and makes a bolt for the door every time I open it so she can chase down my 8lb cochin hen and pick a fight! I haven't candled her eggs, but just in case they're not fertile I've got some more coming in to hatch in the 'bator to give to her. Noooo, not just an excuse to hatch more eggs, it's all for her!

Some of those cockerels have not shown further sign of development, and now they all but one look like hens??? Maybe luck finally took pity on me! The cross beaked chick's beak also CORRECTED! With regular care it stopped being misaligned, which likely means it was an injury, not genetic. I'll get her x-rayed in a few months just to be sure. FINGERS CROSSED because her type is already making her look like a KNOCKOUT

I hope you all are doing well!

Those broodies can get pretty crazy... ah hormones! I am glad your pullet is doing better : )

I have 2 more broody hens in the last couple days, one for the second time this year!

This girl, Hannah, hatched 4 babies and another 2 hens fighting over eggs hatched 2 but couldn't seem to take care of them, so I gave them all to Hannah. She is such a good mama.

I have five due to hatch today. the first fertile eggs from my one pullet. I have been having a lot of late deaths from my smaller hen. 2 pips, one at the wrong end but I think she'll make it.
