So, I have had about 8 or so hatches with the eggs laying on their sides, using a hovabator, fyi. Every hatch has been exactly 21 days, with a couple chicks actually hatching into the 22nd. Ratio has been approx 80 % good, 95 % chicks survival and thriving. 2 with bad leg syndrome, one made i, one didnt (actually, one that went 22 days had a weird leg issue and was very weak, but she is a fighter and now cant tell which one she was
I decided to try the egg carton method and I put 8 eggs in yesterday, with 8 more scheduled for today. Within HOURS of setting them in lockdown, on day 18, 2 had large pips, and this am, one is almost hatched out and more are pipping.
So thats my Serama in a carton story! I ll post the end results. Of course, now I have the problem of putting in the next batch today, which I have not had a problem before with adding eggs the 2nd day, there's never been a pip this early!
