serama questions

Few questions-First how old can you tell what size they will be or do you need to wait til they are adults?

Anyone got pics of a good rep of the breed and point out the good points and one that isn't so great and point out the bad points?

Not sure how much if any breeding I will do but I like a breed to look like it is suppose to guess it is throw over from my dog showing and breeding

You can't be 100% sure the size of the bird until it's done growing.

The three biggest things that I look for in a serama are:
1- upright with chest out, head held a bit back, very proud looking
2- back of head should be almost touching front tail feathers, that's how upright you want the tail, but that's harder to find.
3- the front of the wings should be perpendicular to the ground, which is also hard to find, and something very sought after.

Ok, when do they start walking around like that? I have one that is 9 weeks old, and only sometimes does he stand like that. Hmmm.....but he is the cutest little bugger. I just LOVE him.......

they don't always pose. But they should pose some.THere are 2 main groups trying to get the birds recognized as a breed by APA/ABA and their standards are slightly different.
a short back, small size ( the smaller the better), the wings held down, the tail is upright and like an inverted V, the chest is one of the differing areas. THey should be busty- but how much is debatable depending on the group.Personality is a big part of the "score" when they are judged in Malaysia-and htey are shown out of cages on table tops. Flying off is a DQ I believe-and I have noticed in mine that they don't fly much. And compared to my silkies- the babies are like they have had too much expresso

As for the posing so that they hold themselves correctly, you can actually train them to do it so that they just stand there looking pretty at shows

That's what I hear, anyway.

Cool, Now I am going to do it. hehe, I can just see my hubby now......."Your going to WHAT????". LOL.
My little guy is so full of personality, it makes me want MORE seramas.
