Serama

Speaking of lacing; I had a Yellow cock pigeon over a blue bar hen and one baby came out black with yellowish lacing on all feathers and a couple of small white splotches too, one at the rump, and small one on the wing. The other baby didnt hatc (my fault dropped it egg not bird)

I now have 7 live serama!!

This is the first time I have ever dealt with the breed, though I have read a lot. These chicks seems so much more docile than I had expected. There is nothing wrong, they are actively eating, drinking, etc, I just expected a much more active group of babies. They are suppose to be almost wild, after all!!

The first to hatch sat very quietly in incubator for 2 full days as the others hatched. Then they all have quickly, but quietly adopted to the brooder situation. One already gives evidence of the strutting upright pose!! Very quietly dignified. One very yellow one is sooo fluffy--almost silkie type feathering? One that just hatched has almost flowing down- it is soo cute!:aww It is interesting that I seem to be able to detect size differences all ready.

Gott'a admit: as I read this it sounds so naive, but golly: I never had serama before!!

congrats! Do you have pics? That is a tall order sometimes (at least for me). I heard that you should wait till full maturity to gauge size as some will change. I dont know ythough because I am also new to this.

I just bought 2 pairs from a lady in MN here. She said they were from the jerry s line i believe before he sold out to the serama kings. 3 months old and very sweet birds but luann is right the one roo i have is a reddish almost a mille fleur coloring and feisty as all get out. I also got a buff hen and a black hen along with a very light blonde colored roo with greyish blue on his tail feathers. Mine are b's i believe altho the lighter roo may very well be an A he is a bit smaller then the reddish roo. This is my first time with this breed so i am learning as i go along. These are gonna be my house chickens so i've gotta figure out how im gonna make them diapers to run around in. Currently they have taken up residency in my office and have taken a liking to my desk and the back of the chair LOL. They are sooo calm and love to talk. I just LOVE them to pieces!!!!

I have some Seramas too. Well, only 3 now, but at one time I had about 25. Then we moved 3,000 miles and I had to sell almost all of them. Ho well. I kept a pair my son loved best. Baby Sarge (Son of Sarge who we sold) and Goldie. Goldie is sitting on her first clutch of eggs ever! It is amazing because she is 6 years old and has never got broody. It is about time!
We have one little roo that I incubated named Sweety Pie out of the pair. I had 4 hatch, but all the others plus some bantam cockins and Seabrights were killed by a weasel.
Anyway, here is Baby Sarge and Goldie!!
