3 of my 6 month old serama roos have purple combs and waddles they are inside birds live in the spare bedroom what could this be ?

I have read here that purple comb is a sign of lack of oxygen.

There is something going on with the blood and circulation. Oxygen is a part of it. Maybe a systemic infection or something affecting the heart. Can you get them to a bird or farm vet?

Try looking inside their mouths with a flashlight to see if there are growths blocking their windpipes. Look for a hole behind the tongue a ways down the throat.

edited to add: Are they making gasping motions?

Perhaps you should consider letting them be real Chickens, improve their health and move them outside for some fresh air and sunshine, maybe even something to scratch at besides the carpet.

the only thing i see wrong is the purple combs and waddles. the rest of the birds in that room are ok. i cant find my camera but i will have my son take pics after school he has a cell phone camera

they do freerange in the yard all day most days still to cold at night here.

A couple of our older Serama cockerels developed purple combs and wattles a few months before they died. It seemed to be heart related. They were a little less active, slept more and just loved attention. With each of them we just found them asleep in the coop of a morning like they died in their sleep. .However, with your birds being young I am not sure.

Do they go outside? Maybe they just need a good dose of Vitamin D?

I was told that temps. under 40 f is to cold for seramas. its 31 right now but when the temp gets up to 40 every day they go outside till dark, rain,or cold. if im doing this wrong im sorry but im doing what ive learned here on BYC
