My friend helped rescue 100+ seramas from a hoarding case. She gave me two silkied hens. They are being quarantined right now. But I got to thinking, what would the genetics be if I bred them to my frizzle roo? They will eventually go with him and his girls, and I hatch their eggs regularly.
So I’d like to know if anyone has ever bred silkied to frizzled, and what their outcomes were/could be!

As far as I know (and i'm only learning too so hopefully someone with more knowledge will be along soon) the genes for silkie feathering are different from the genes for frizzle. Frizle is a dominant gene so 50% of the babies will be frizzle. Silkie is recessive, so all the babies will carry this gene, but none will show it. If you bred two babies together you would then get 25% silkie (or 50% if you bred a baby to another silkied chicken). So eventually you could end up with silkied frizzles, but not in the first generation. Hope this helps

Thank you! I know how frizzle works, Ive just never heard about silkie(other than the breed).
