Hi, I am new to BYC but I could use some help/advice.
I have one almost grown serema rooster (his hen died and I think he might have killed her).
He has taken to pecking very hard!
The day before my hen died my grandaughter came and told me he was pecking the hen. I didn't think much about it since I raised them from eggs. But now that he pecks me (leaving bruises) I'm thinking he needs some lessons. How do I get him to quit pecking? I started young on handling both of them teaching them how to stand. So this pecking is new.
I have new babies starting to grow up and I haven't started teaching them or handling them much as I sure don't want them pecking me.
Do you file or trim their beaks to keep the pecking from hurting so much? If you do will this hurt in the scoring if you decide you wish to show them?
Any advice would be nice.
