I got 2 Serama pullets (2&4 months) about 2 months ago. I have quarantined them from the rest of my flock however they would go outside in a chicken tractor for the day (it was only used a few times this year to break some Broodies)
About 3 weeks ago I noticed the younger bird seemed a bit more lethargic and found a bloody poop.
* I do not have access to corid, vet etc where I live
I started treating both by keeping them inside the house
Water is from fresh brewed oregano and ACV. I alternate every 2-3 days
Feed- added garlic, dried oregano, probiotic powder, small amount of dried wormwood and DE powder.
After starting this I did not see anymore bloody stools and she seemed to perk up however the past 2 days she has been having watery stools and her cecals are just liquid. And seems a bit more lethargic again.
Today I gave them electrolytes in their water (I know with cocci you need to withhold thiamine) and just a bit of garlic and oregano and probiotics in their feed.
They have been in the house for 3 weeks so I can monitor everything.
Pic of her poop included
Is anyone able to provide any advice?

Do you know any farmers in your area that raise cattle? They may have some Amprolium (Corid).

Other medications you can use would be Toltrizuril (Endocox) and a Sulfa Antibiotic. Not sure if you can order those online from CA or not but may be worth investigating. Pigeon supply stores is what I would search.

If possible, get some medicated chick starter. This will at least get a tiny amount of meds.
Do provide grit for your chicks. See that they are eating well and staying hydrated.

Give some white cooked rice with buttermilk to help soothe the gut.
Hopefully she will pull through this.

My FIL actually has cattle and they have some type of medicine so they are going to let me know what it is.
She just seems a bit tired but is eating and drinking well.
Will try the rice.

Oh that sounds good, hopefully they have some Corid, but if not, maybe it's something you can use.

Keep me posted.

Nevermind. I just ordered this 👇 next pic is the correct dosage? She should have an oral dose in addition to the dosed water?

This is what I found. It has amprolium. Is it enough to help?

The Coccivet is fine, just so you know in the future.

O.K. Good, you are getting the Corid.
Yes! I would give her a direct oral drench in addition to her drinking the mixed water as her only source of drinking water.

In case you need it:: Powdered Corid dose is 1 1/2 teaspoons per gallon of drinking water, given for 5-7 days.

I hope this makes a huge difference and she gets better, keep me posted.

Oh and that price for Corid is crazy!

I know the price is insane!! I might see if I can sell it after. I’m sure the amount I’ll need is almost nothing from that big bag!
It should be coming today….
Her poops look more normal today. There was a few that were slightly loose but overall it’s improved.
The only thing is there is a small amount of some pinkish red pieces that look kinda like a mucus. Some of my other chickens seemed to have the same thing when they were young and I thought it was just a bit of intestinal lining because they seemed fine but maybe not!

She just got the medicine so hopefully it starts helping.
I’m wondering if I should treat the entire flock? She must have gotten it from being outside in an area they sometimes go, so it must be present. My plan was to have the two girls join the flock once they both were full grown and matured

I would treat them all.

I don't know, I'd consider hanging on to the medication since it seems so hard to get. Powder will store longer. If you have a vacuum sealer, reseal the bag or you could store it in a mason jar with a tight fitting lid. (Vaccum seal the jar if you have that option). Store in a cool dark place.
