I just went into the city and the only thing to eat was fast food...SOOO glad to be back in the country (my home) I'm eating all of our new tomatoes! Those raspberries look soooooo good too!

BTW finally took a picture of my garden. It's been a rough year with the unexpected Ice, Tornadoes, and now the Drought but at least the corn is doing good! What a good idea those Indians had ;-D

Fruits/vegetables coming in....I am feeding organic fertilizer. This is my first year planting and caring for a garden all by myself.
Tomatoes in coco coir/vermiculite/perlite

Thai basil in coco coir pot/vermiculite. Got this from Home Depot.

Okra coming in

Grapes..these will make great cold treats for the girls. They will probably be the smaller grape variety.

There are also some snap peas that are coming that I didn't picture. I also planted some other tomato varieties (Hillbilly and a green "Zebra"). There's a couple pepper plants that made it but next year I will definitely plant more and earlier too. Also next year I will be ordering non-GMO varieties...this is mostly a "practice" year to see if I got a green thumb or a sore one so all the seeds came from Wally World. The weather is not cooperating. It is very hot here and I have to water everyday, sometimes twice a day. I water in the late afternoon.

Does anyone know what this little bug is, at first I thought it was a bad bug, but then wondered if it was eating the aphids, anyway I've never seen it before it is on the potatoes and the lentils.

Got an answer about the bug from the garden forum, they are white lady bug larva, Woooo Hoooo, gotta love the lady bugs!!!!!!!

Well anyways, I have been working on a large veggie garden and today was the icing on the cake! I built a twig arbor!!! yup!!! I took a few pictures, didnt come out great with my husbands computer lap top photo thingy! It only costs me twist twine!!

the twigs, I got from around the yard and in the woods. gosh i hope i dont get poison ivy . ha

so where i put it, is the main entrance to the veggie garden. the chickens and ducks are going mental wanting to get inside and do damage to my garden.

i gave them warnings. My rooster had the nerve to jump on the side and get in.... i swooped him out, as the girls (hens) looked on............

Anyone else build any arbors or have pretty entrance ways to their garden? k.... just wondering. bye bye

I can't wait to see your twig arbor. Sounds like it looks great...I put a couple of my chickens in the garden yesterday. They were so confused about where they were that they started clucking really loudly wondering where the rest of the flock was. They wouldn't even touch a grape. I guess if I let them stay in longer they would figure out there's a bunch of good things to eat in there....Anyway, looking forward to seeing the twig arbor!

I cut a bunch of branches today, might have to see if I have anything interesting! Mom said I was scaring her trees today. She is under the impression that gardens grow best under deep shade from massive numbers of over grown fruit trees-and yet wonders why nothing grows in certain beds that never see the sun. On the 1/2 acre of property, one item on my dads tree list was that he had 34 peach trees. He had pretty much every tree that bore fruit and grew in the area. He would be hoping mad to see most of his trees gone, but she has a great garden full of veggies! Something she only had handfuls of in the past and only when I cleared out garden zones.
