We have alot of Sassafrass on our property and my grandparents always made tea out of the roots and leaves. So, last night I made some tea for me, my friend and my brother. (Yes it has a carcinogen in it) but it doesn't hurt in very small amounts. Anyways, I noticed that I was getting quite a bit high. As it goes...I looked it up and Sassafrass may have some halucinogen properties, just wanted to share that! I had no idea, I mean it wasn't bad, the tea was great and it wasn't like an LSD high. Just a nice calm feeling.

Sassafras has medicinal qualities. My grandma used to give it to us sometimes...can't remember what for, probably to get us to shut up and go to bed

I have a question. I was searching for seed potatoes today and run up on a steal, the feed store had one 50lb. bag left over from Spring. They let me get them for $5 instead of the original $25, so I have a HUGE sack of taters to plant for Fall harvest. They'll still be fine to plant right? I can't see why not, they have eyes and are a bit dried out and a bit shrivelled, but they should still grow correct?

SOooooooooOooOOo....anyone get any harvest yet? The only thing we have gotten would be pretty devent amount of medium sized tomatoes and little less than average size corn. This year has just been rough so far! The chickens have been eating alot of the corn and when they poop them out corn has started growing everywhere

They are growing the corn better than we have hahah. Our cucumbers were the worst this year, we have just gotten a couple small dinky almost yellow ones...looks like there will be no pickles this year

I cant wait until the fall berries start coming in though! I'm going to make soooooooooooo much jam this year its going to be unbelievable!

My only harvest has been a few cherry tomatoes. Although I have squash BUGS, tomato CATERPILLAR type bugs... My cucumbers and peppers have been eaten by something too. Anybody have any organic solutions to getting rid of the bugs.
I have been picking them off and giving them to the chickens but I can't keep up. This is my first attempt at a garden in Florida and it isn't easy.

My corn was horrible this year too, but it usually is for me. My tomato plants are still looking good, but no tomatoes, hot drought year for us too. I'm hoping if I keep the plants alive and reletively healthy until fall may get some in the fall. Peppers are not doing well either. Squash and cukes are pretty good, but battling w/ the squash bugs. \\
I'm going to attempt corn one more time this year, have enough time for one last planting if I get it out this week.

Going to try for a fall garden, maybe futile w/ the drought, but I'm going to try.

My zucchini is going nuts, and the onions look good. The tomatoes are behind this year, but I have gotten a few dozen cherry tomatoes so far. My chickens harvested about three dozen unripe heirloom tomatoes. Garlic grew pretty well. Bell peppers have been a wash. Eggplant is behind. Carrots were a bust. Cucumbers have been really limited. My girls harvested all of my lettuce for me...

Those "tomato CATERPILLER type bugs...are Tomato Hornworms. I don't have problems with them anymore since I started planting a Basil Plant next to each Tomato Plant several years ago.
