Serious Problem

Yes we have talked to our vet but like I said this is his first time working on waterfowl and the nearest one near here trustworthy is 7 to 10 hours from here. However he said as last resort he would consider consulting with another vet for help.
To keep her from going through this all the time I believe I'd ask the vet for help if he is willing to consult another vet then I really can't see any other way especially since the meds aren't working now.

I agree with Miss Lydia, spaying is probably the best thing for her. I hope your girl pulls through!

Last night was another tough one That makes 4 in a row now where she goes to bed at 7:00 pm then around 1:00 am starts to pant then at 3:30 starts to cry I run a bath and let her soak then at or around 5 or 6 am she lays hard shelled egg. which she hasnt done since last Oct And on top of that she has had a shot of Cystorelin. So shouldn't even be laying.

Right now she is panting and has labored breathing and keeps ruffling her feathers every 15 mins.I m waiting for phone call from vet.

Ive got ACV in water and probiotics in her layer food. She has access to egg shells crumbs and romaine and sliced carrots.24/7.

I am so confused. Does anyone know what this might be? Salpingitis or Peritonitis.

I love her so much I just hate to see her in pain. It hasnt been this bad in a long time. Normally she runs around and is her little bossy self. Tearing up her stuffed animals.

This is a tough situation. I agree that your best bet is to ask your vet to consult with another vet that has more experience with waterfowl. Consulting another vet should not be seen as a last resort. I would expect my vet to go to another vet immediately if he didn't know the answer. The one time I had an issue and went to an avian vet he gave a lot of opinions on what they problem could be but followed it up by saying he would also consult with his mentor who was more experience. That other vet should have a lot more knowledge on what the problem might be and the treatment options. Certainly more than any of us here on BYC. This is one of those situations when you want to go to the expert instead of trying to make guesses based on online research. You might end up doing more harm than good and in the mean time your duck is miserable.

Okay everyone. First thank u to all for listening and advice. Just talked to an Avian Vet who does Stem Cell work on waterfowl and he walked me through everything and together with my vet is going to take care of Ronin. She is going to be alright. He has used Stem cells on waterfowl before so he knows what he's doing.

First we must get rid of Metritis and peritonitis. So we have work to do there. Then we will move on to next step. Believe it or not she is doing wonderful on new medics and has laid third hard shelled egg since last Oct. It's truly a miracle. Thanks for all your prayers.

Hey there everyone Little Miss Ronin is doing great. Thank You again for all your help and especially for your prayers. She has laid a hard shelled egg everyday for 2 weeks now we are awaiting an implant to get here from great Britain. Then we are going to get that in place. At that time do a full blood exam on her and a complete ultrasound on her abdomen. Then we will address any illness. To prepare for stem cell.

Thanks Again Jody
