Serious Question........

Have any of you all or anyone you know been allergic to fresh eggs?
I'm scared I am.... just all of a sudden! Our chickens started laying 8-4-09 and I've noticed when I eat them plain I feel weird, get tingling through out my body... this is weird. Sometimes my head feels weird too and this morning I made me an omelet with 2 egg and 1 egg white and when I was done I started cleaning and felt my throat swelling up.... scared the poop out of me... I just want to cry if I'm allergic to our eggs... I've wanted chickens and fresh eggs for soooo long, my throat is still alittle swelled up I can feel it when I swallow. Now when I cook them in something I dont feel like this?

I would say go to your doctor to find out for sure. Let the doc alleviate your fears.

I think your right... what I dont understand is why would I be allergic to fresh eggs and not store eggs...

I would say visit your doc to be sure. Maybe it is your thinking too much.

If you have eaten eggs before with no reaction, you (and your doctor) may want to consider the possibility that the hens may be eating something that you are allergic too. Whatever it is, definitely see the doctor. Better safe than sorry.

May be an adult onset reaction, Like my almond allergy.

I've eaten almonds all my life then one day, lips eyes throat, fingers, hands feet, EVERYTHING swelled up, almost died, spent time in the ER etc....
Now I'm allergic to almonds like some people are to peanuts, I have to carry an EPPI pen with me everywhere in case I get slipped something made with almonds or almond extract.
wadda pain.

Yup, just don't get the kind of allergist I first got, said there's no way I'm allergic, it's all in my head...went to another and they did subdermal skin tests during which I collapsed in full anaphylactic shock. It turns out that for some tests or exposures, it takes almost exactly 20 minutes to react, while others are immediate.
I am deathly allergic to certain molds, penicillin and other antibiotics
Pretty allergic to milk, soy, wheat, sulphites, meds.
Multiple chemical sensitivities and metabolic irregularities, also lots of meds I can't ever take for side effects. Took too many YEARS to get it all worked out. I am also sensitive to the chemical carrier of the allergy shots (allergist did a blind test of various things on me).

You could try letting your eggs age awhile ... they are still better than storebought, even a few weeks old.

Thanks everybody... REALLY hope its something else, going be really sad if I cant eat the eggs... maybe it the food I'm feeding them? Guess I'll be calling the dr.
