Seriously, how cold is too cold?

Temperature in this picture was -1F and had 1' of snow. Ducks came piling out of the coop like it was 40*F.

I lock my birds up at night all the time just because of nasty munchy things, but I'm sure mine would appreciate it if I didn't.
My Chicken coop is Fort Knox thanks to my Husband..Lol. I only close pop door to the run after -10C
My Ducks are totally safe in the Dog Run, only ones I lock up at night are in a Pen I need to rewire in the spring..

Nice. What is the run made out of?

My current run (which has fallen into disuse) is just welded wire with no top or skirt. About as predator resistant as a sieve.
It wasn't put up properly either, because it was supposed to be temporary... the bottom is loose enough in one spot that a large adult Husky got through.

My Chicken run is pressure treated wood posts..Covered in heavier gauged wire mesh on the top too and a 12 inch barried skirt..
My Dog Run is heavy gauged chain link that bear proof?..Have not tested it out though. Lol
And the other Pen has strange wire and then just cheap poultry fence I can break..Will redo in spring...

You have some really weird birds, then. :p

To the OP: I have kept ducks (with no temperature regulation) from temperatures anywhere from -40*F to 90*F. They are tough critters.

It was around 100F here this summer and not just occasionally. It was quite hot on regular basis. They did not suffer. When they were still ducklings, yes, they did show signs of stress, but later on, they just rested a bit more in the thick bamboo shade and hit the pond now and then. Actually, I even think they were in the water less than when it was colder. They are tough, alright! I remember how much I've panicked about everything with my first duckling. :)
