serogant hen

so i have 6 chickens and we have decited to hatch soom eggs! we do not have a rooster but we have a hen that think she has fertilized eggs! so we went to our friends that have a lot of chickens and roosters! my question is, how long does it take to hatch them under "mama" and can she reject them if they are a completely different? as in breed wise lol! thanks for answers and hope to hear something!

The eggs will hatch in about 21 days. The mom could care less about the breed of chicken, I've had hens that loved their little baby ducklings, turkeys, and Guineas, LOL!

I've heard of hens that attacked their babies when they hatched, or wanted nothing to do with them. However this is rare, and I've never experienced it. Mine have all been great moms.

What breed is your hen? Some breeds tend to have better maternal instincts than others.
