Serrin wanted to adopt them! (picture heavy)

So.....Today is the last day of Elk season, it's pouring down rain, and we've decided that we're getting too dang old to hunt in this kind of junk! Hence, I'm finally getting a few moments [in between all of my housework chores I'm getting caught up on] to sit down and update a few of my favorite threads around here. I thought maybe y'all might like to see a few pics of Maggie and the twins, taken last Friday evening as they were getting ready for bed.

Here we see Maggie trying to get her babies at least pointed in the direction of their coop. Poor little woman! Most days, that's like trying to nail Jell-o to the wall!

Finally! She's got them both into the coop! But for the life of me, I can't understand why Maggie came back out. It took her another 20 minutes to round them up and get them back in there.

Once inside, there is the chore of trying to get these two hooligans to settle down comfortably for the night and go to SLEEP! Here we see Maggie and the girls, with only limited success on the "settling in comfortably for the night" issue. The little one tucked safely between the wall and her mother is, of course, Lisette. Such a good little girl! Shy and quiet, she's almost never in any kind of trouble.

Somehow, I don't think that using your mother's back as your own personal feather bed qualifies as "settling in comfortably for the night"

Finally, after pushing her mother's patience to the limit, Cosette was reprimanded and then safely pinned down by mama's stern wing. It effectively ended the discussion and soon all were settled in for the night! And comfortably too!!

Oh, and one more photo just for the heck of it. This was taken the day after their arrival here. In watching Maggie stand protectively over her babies while they indulged in a nice dust bath, I fell in love with her completely in that very moment!

She's just so completely devoted to these two. And I know in my heart, that if she chooses to go broody again in the spring, she'll make one of the best little mothers to ever rear a family of chicks! Thanks Kathy! I may never have need of my incubator ever again!
