Set 23 Call Duck Eggs Today 27/3.....Buddy's please, Duck or Chick

Question........ I am using a Little Giant still air incubator. Lockdown is tomorrow, do I turn them in the morning then lockdown or is my last turn tonite the last turn? Also I heard from 1 person I should tape the bator , is that necesary? Also the guineas are a day and a half behind the ducklings, so by time the ducklings hatch( crossing my fingers they do) the guineas should be in lockdown. Will it be ok to take the ducklings out while the guineas are suppose to be in lockdown?

turning is not really necessary at this stage now, I usually just candle mine and make sure the dipped part of the aircell is facing up, they will naturally roll that way anyway so either way I wouldn't worry about it too much. I've never heard of taping the bator, not necessary.

I think they are to the point where they will roll themselves where they want to be, so I'd just leave them. I'd only tape if you think you're going to have a problem keeping yourself from opening the incubator, lol.

Im waiting for my calls to hatch too, there due monday. Ive got my mother in laws indian runner eggs as her incubater broke! There due tomorrow so this little baby came early.

Mine are on day 23, the person I got them from says hers usually start hatching around day 24. so I'm expecting them anytime between now and wednesday, lol.

Baby 1 which is called jacob is all fluffed up now. Soon as you put your face on the incubater he goes mad to be out . Ive been told they like human company not like chicks. Ive got another duckling that is half out. I put 2 polish frizzle eggs and a lavender silkie in with the ducks. I have 1 polish frizzle out, she is adorable :D will post pictures on tomorrow when i get them out...

I just did my last turning of the eggs and took out all the bad eggs. I have 2 Rouens with lots of movement and 2 guineas with movement. While makeing some laundry soap I was watching the eggs thru the windows and 2 ARE MOVING :) 1 of the guineas is rocking a little and 1 of the Rouens is moved a couple times. How flippin cool. Now I cross my fingers that my last 4 eggs all hatch.

keeping fingers crossed for you that all your babies hatch. I still have some time to go before my first 25 do anything. Lock down is the 28th. I need to look at them again to see if any of them are any good. For some reason I am having a hard time with this incubator. I had no issues with it last year. maybe my temp needs to go higher and add water this time. I have always done a dry hatch and had no problems. Hate to throw out all these eggs.

when i go to lock down I turn for the last time the night before. sense I tend to stay up really late anyway its really early that morning. Then I just leave them alone. You do not need to tape down the bator they will be fine. I used the same bator last year. would be using it this year as a dry off pen but it was stolen out of my house when we were moving.
And as for the Guinese you can leave them in there and if you act fast while getting teh dukclings out you should be okay. Just do not let the lid be off for to long. Its the same as taking the ducklings or chicks out as they dry off and the others have not hatched out.
