Set 3/9/12 HATCH ALONG!

LOCKDOWN TOMMORROW!!!

How does cartons help during hatch? This is my first hatch and have never heard or seen that being done. I'm so excited for Lockdown and ready. We are now at 20 eggs and I'm curious to see how many actually hatch! How big are the air cells suppose to be at this point?

I'm trying cartons for the first time this hatch. I have so many eggs I think it will give the hatched chicks more room not have to shuffle around egg shells. I'm kinda hesitant trying something new since I know laying them down works.

I candled a few, I see movement!

I think I'll lay them on their side this time, I don't dare try something new with this being my first hatch. I had one questionable egg, so I know not all 20 are going to hatch, but I'll be happy with just a few hatching.

Had one d'uccle egg hatch today and have 2 due friday and then another 3 due next friday. I know I shouldn't stagger the hatches, it was kind of a see if the roo was doing his job kind of thing. I had some hatch in this same bator last friday. Think I'm just getting lucky ...lol..All 6 of the d'uccle eggs I put in developed :) Hopefully this little one will have a couple more friends on friday. I'm not sure if the others are too big to put baby in with. they are silkies...so they are bantams too, but they are a week old and he's just a couple hrs old.

You could set up a cardboard box and put a little mirror and stuff animal she will be okay till your others hatch in couple days. She could get lots of cuddles from you too

I have decided to lockdown tomorrow night, as scheduled, despite the fact that some appear to be more developed than others. The aircells in mine aren't as big as they should be, so I'm a little concerned about that. They look to be somewhere between the day 7 and 14 size. I thought my humidity was good (according to the hygrometer), but I apparently was wrong. Not much I can do about it now. I plan on using cartons this time. Never have before, but decided to give it a try this time. My temperature seems to have leveled off at 100* on the one side, and 101* on the other. Not going to mess with it anymore. Good luck, everyone, and waiting to hear how your hatches turn out! Oh yeah - out of 41 eggs, I have 36 going into lockdown. The best percentage I've had make it that far.

We made it! I have 20 eggs going into lockdown this afternoon. I'm not expecting this to be great hatch, I started with 34 eggs, not even knowing if they were all fertile. Now with 20...I'm happy, even if not all of them hatch. I wish everyone the best of the luck, and let us know how it is going, I want to see pictures too!

YEA! im so excited for you! cant wait to see pictures!

Okay now you guys got me! I have been reading all of your posts and am so excited for everyone! I too just put eggs on lock down this morning. I ordered the eggs from an ebay auction. If all goes well, I am hoping to end up with nine little cochin bantam frizzles.

Haven't hatched eggs in a couple of years but to get the birds I wanted, I had to order hatching eggs. I also have some naked neck green eggers and some showgirls in my other bator. Think I may have to put a cover over the bator I CANT STAND THE SUSPENSE!!!!! Good luck to all of you on your hatches....

AND NOW WE WAIT.....
