we collected 7 eggs from the girls ( RIR, red sex link and barred rock eggs) which have been fertilised (hopefully) by the RIR or the ameraucana roo...we will see if they hatch or even develop. They have only been laying for about 2-3 weeks so this may be way to early but what the hell nothing ventured nothing gained!

hey, aran, do you have a separate hatcher? If not, how will you handle it when the first eggs need their humidity raised for three days? I dont remember you saying if you had two bators or not. Oh, and I sent you an email.

we are in the process of making the hatcher as we speak:)

Just need a couple more ingredients and im done.

Cool! My own DH is taking apart our own nice wooden MegaBator and pirating some of the parts to re-make it with one of my sons' non working dorm refridgerators. He'd better hurry since I have some due Oct 28 and I'd rather not hatch in the Hova-can't see the babies that well in those two little plastic windows!

hey cynthia...i candled today and out of 15 eggs 10 are good and developing! Of the other 5 , 3 were only set on 10/15 in the evening and the other 2 are so dark brown that I cant see into them!Looks like the boys have been doing there thang!

thats awesome...i need to get to work on the 2nd bator and the new coop to house all these lil buggers when they all hatch LOL...sheesh i did it again...i ordered too many chickens hahahahah

yeeeeeeeeeeehaaa the eggs are developing awesomely...the humidity in the bator with NOOOOOOOOO water in it was 35% when i put the eggs in and is now up to 45-48% with 15 eggs set...just like the guy said the dry incubation works because the eggs themselves are porous and are letting out water in to the bator.
