Set 86 Eggs Tonight *FORTY-FOUR Hatched--Hatch Over *

When we got home, the Rock was zipped, but was too far up on the egg so it was obvious that it was crammed in there and was beginning to lose ground, breathing way too slowly. We immediately popped the top off for it, poor thing is completely wiped out. Didn't want the same thing to happen as did with the last Buff Orp that was zipped then died.

I still don't see any pips in the BRs, but since these are just starting to hatch, I'm not quite as worried.

I love that little turtle in the brooder! I think I am going to do something like that when my chicks get here, so they can climb on it.

Cyn gave me the idea to put the plush toys in the bator for the first few weeks if the chicks' life. I don't know how she keeps it so clean, I had to scrub mine daily, and change it out every week!

I just love the EB Thompson strain of BRs. I'm sure you will to, Cyn! Oh... I would love a few!

Trust me, Mr. Turtle gets thrown in the washer every few days. If you get plush toys, be sure they have no strings, fuzzy hair or parts that can come off like plastic eyeballs, etc. A brand new feather duster can work, but they love to get on top of the turtle and jump off.

The Rock in the bator is trying to dry off. I can't see any pips in the Rocks yet. This is a nail biter!

Well, with 80 of them being shipped from five different locations, I was set to have about half of them hatch. Looks like I may just get there. I'm not concerned with actual hatch rates for their own sake, just getting enough to hatch for me to have good choices for my keepers. I sure don't need 80 more birds!
