Set 86 Eggs Tonight *FORTY-FOUR Hatched--Hatch Over *

Congrats on the Hatch Cyn!

I've got some of Kathy's eggs in my bator for the Easter Hatch and I am really crossing my fingers and hoping for good results from the BRs, NHs and SLWs.

oh... and in case you missed it folks.....Godess Speckled Hen

Thanks, Mahonri, you goofball, LOL.

Kathy, I knew they feathered very slowly, that it took slow feathering to produce that fabulous barring. It will remind me of bare-butted Suede when he was a baby.

I haven't been able to get the 8 together for a count, but I know there are some pullets and at least two or three cockerels. One I thought was a blue Rock may be a barred Rock. If so, it's one of yours, Kathy, because it hatched in that #2 bator. Guess we got confused at the end, or just bleary eyed and missed which egg it came from. halo, do you still have barred girls in with the BBS Rocks? When I took it into the kitchen, the wings looked blue and it still may be, but it does have a small spot on the head. Guess time will tell, huh? It's not as fluffy as the others, probably because it had more goo on it from the hatch, but that will wear off in a few days.

Lots of cute little fluffers there Cyn. Congratulations on a good hatch of shipped eggs. I still have to wait until next Thursday for my turkeys. 28 days takes FOREVER!

Yes, I have 2 really nice big wide chunky barred rock hens in with the blue roo. They arent barreds like Kathy's, but they are nice nonetheless.

I was just confused as to what the little nipper was, LOL. The goo that dried on that baby was messing with my eyes! I'm very happy that I now have little Barred Rocks coming along again! It seems like its been so long!

I love all Barred Rocks, even if my Fern is a spastic nutcase. She was raised by a broody hen, so that's her excuse.

Golly, you're right, Michelle, if we had to wait 28 days, we'd be going nuts around here! I'm happy the bators are going back to the basement today! Refresh my memory, what eggs did I send you years ago? Orps, Rocks, Ameraucanas? Can't recall.

We love our Barred Rocks. But I was too good at picking pullets; every last one is a hen. So this year, we decided to raise our own BR rooster for them instead of trying to find an adult roo. Let's hope the hens eventually take him seriously.

I had an older Little Giant incubator that got funny, we used a scientific thermometer to check it - very accurate, and registered 24 hour hi and low. Found that the temp was fluctuating considerably over a day. My friends husband (electrical engineer) said that the wafer-type thermostats would be more prone to this.

Just set 60 eggs 2 days ago,all shipped, fingers are crossed (hand-turning)

Speckledhen....just because you are through hatching don't think we are done with you yet. We will help you watch the fuzzy butts grow!
