Set Eggs 07-02-11 Anyone else

CHICKEN MATH. Set a square dozen buff orp's, and 4 ea. silkie at 12:30 AM, 7/1. At 12:00 PM, 7/1, I checked and was about 10 silkie and about 18 buff orp's. Every time I look there are a few more. I checked around 10:30 Pm, 7/2, only a couple slots left. It is now 1:18 AM, 7/4, and I refuse to check again. Ohh by the way, we have a pair of silkies setting on eggs. white one has 9, two of which are buff eggs. Black splash has 10, one of which is a buff egg.

Today is day 4 for me. I'm itching to candle, but I'm going to try to wait till day 7. I'm very skeptical about the fertility rate of these eggs I've collected.

I am itching to candle as well. I set them at 2 am(I work 2nd shift) on the 2nd so I have a while to go before i get to look and see. My kids are about to go nuts wanting to see whats in them.

Mine were set at 9 am on the 2nd so I am really considering candling tonight. I am really interested in what they are doing in there... Also My Dad found a mother sparrow dead 2 days ago and last night found the babies. so now I have 3 sparrows. Kinda sad. The sparrows will be starting to fly at the same time the eggs are hatching... I have a really long 3 weeks ahead...

I just set 120 eggs on 7-2-11 as well. Some RIR's, Golden Comet, Leghorn, Brahma, Barred Rock, White rock, and some Mallard and Muscovy duck eggs. It is my first time and I am so excited.

I don't always candle, but when I do I wait until day 10. There is less chance of tossing what might have been a good egg at that point.

We candled last night when we were turning them. We 4 definite growing. 3 maybe and 1 I am not sure about. So I am hoping everything goes well. I am really looking forward to the first babies!!!

This batch looks like they will candle easier than the last ones, there were alot of really dark ones in the last batch.
