I placed 11 eggs in my incubator on 2/16. It will be interesting to see what hatches. I have 3 EE eggs, 3 white crested blue Polish, 3 barred rock and 2 buff orpington. Here is the exciting thing, I have 3 roos, head roo is RIR and 2 very colorful EE roos. So lord knows who fertilized what....lol. Candled my 3 Polish eggs today and all 3 are fertile! Can't really see thru my brown or green eggs. So not really sure what is fertile on them. This will be an interesting hatch. They are due to hatch the weekend that 3 of my grands will be here (ages 10,7,3) I will post pics so we can see what hatches!

Same to you! Then I got the message that BYC was doing an Easter Egg hatch

Oh well. Lets keep in touch and see what we both get!

I candled today and my 2 buff orpingtons had the red ring :( . But my 3 EE my 3 Polish and 3 barred rock are all fertile and growing!

thats great bout the other growing ones!!!! Sorry about the orps... That stinks. I don't think mine are fertile..... Darn!!! But only on day 9, so I need to candle. Yay!

Let me know what you find! I only figured a 50-70% fertility rate so I think I did pretty good. Now if I can get them all to hatch. Really excited about my EE's as my EE hen is the sweetest hen EVER. She will squat when my grands approach so they can pick her up. My Polish is the only Polish I have, so VERY excited about getting some Polish cross babies. And excited to see what they will look like! I have 3 roos 2 are beautiful EE's and the dominant roos is a wonderful kind RIR. All my flock is a mix with the exception of my roos. My EE hen is a Buff Orpinton EE cross. She is solid buff color but has the puffy cheeks, rose comb of the EE breed and lays green eggs.

What did you find when you candled? I have 8 left from 11 and 2 of those I think are red ring of death. Hard to tell on brown eggs. On lockdown now, hatching begins Friday and Saturday!

I read somewhere to put a cloth in the water wells and put hot water in them to bring the humidity up. I did this and the level did go up but temp came down so I turned temp. up a little. Temp came back up but humidity came back down. I did see one egg move though. Fri. and Sat. is hatch day, we'll see.

Temp suddenly dropped on Thursday and Friday. I dont understand, it's a brand new incubator. Not a single egg hatched! I finally opened yesterday and candled my one white egg, I could still see life. So I clsed it up and got the temp steady again. Going to give them till Wed! How did you make out?
