Set eggs 3/5. Looking for others to hatch with!

That is too funny. I guess by default I am officially in the hatchalong. Do you know if I can still sign up? I am going over to that thread now!
Thank you.
I think you still have a few days.

Well, I did it. I hope I don't ruin everything by staggering hatches. I have a separate incubator for lockdown so we'll see. I just couldn't bear to not give it a try when I kept looking at all those eggs!

I almost always have staggered hatches, and have fairly high hatch rates. Mine's very staggered right now, ducks just hatched, more hatching in a few days, EE in a few weeks, turkeys for the easter hatch. Might be setting call duck and sizzle eggs soon. I heard my roo crowing today so maybe he'll put on his big boy pants soon.

HI, Does anyone know...with the staggered hatches, do we only count the eggs set TODAY for the Easter Hatch?
hu.gif
I'm talking about the spreadsheet where we enter the number of eggs set... Thanks guys, Cali

5 EE in the bator on 3/9 (I probably don't include these, do I?)
24 Silkie eggs today

Just the eggs that are due on easter I think. Ask on there, they'll answer pretty quick. I can barely keep up with that thread.

Thank you for clarifying that Julie

I don't think they like me on that thread. I've posted a couple times and nobody ever got back with an answer.

Oh well, it probably doesn't matter. Now I can't even figure out how to update my total.

Me either. I think a lot of posts get missed too.

I don't have time to keep up with that thread. I'm too busy with the ones I love, love, love talking on!!!
Oh, and looking in the auction.
So today I'm looking at my blue calico Catdance silkie boy and I'm thinking he might look really great with a porcelain girl. His wingtips have a wheaten color to them and he has almost like a wheaten color to his hackles. Sooooo, I'm looking around on the poultry auction sites just waiting for my porcelain girl to pop up......oh, wait, I need a porcelain for my blue/porcelain Catdance roo too......need more than one girl.
And then I'm messing around over in the auction and what do I find

Catdance had put up a BIN for 12+ porcelain/lavendar and 12+ blue/splash.
So EVERYONE knows I have been saying I need a beautiful splash boy. I have a nice splash girl - although I admit Catdance is out of her league, but she can step it up - and I have blue chicks in my garage that are from Catdance parents. So I hurried up and bought the porcelain. In the 30 seconds it takes me to buy them, someone has snatched up the black/paint for $85. Wow, I wish I had eggs like that! So I just know the splash are going to go quickly. This auction is perfect for me, right??????
SO I BOUGHT BOTH SETS. It's all fine and dandy except I don't know how to hatch these little buggers out. I'm sitting here asking the kids what should I do? What do you think dad would tell me to do right now. So my kids - got to love them - said dad would tell you to do what you want to do!!!!!!!!
Dad, by the way, is sleeping. He would probably actually say the same thing he said when I wanted to buy eggs last weekend when we were picking up chickens. Honey, I really don't want you to buy eggs until you know how to hatch.
Maybe my brain didn't register his request right. Maybe I thought he said- Honey, I really want you to buy eggs so you can learn how to hatch. Because Tuesday I bought some from somebody in Texas and tonight I bought these.

Of course, I reasoned it out they must surely have been meant for me since that is exactly what I was looking for today.
I think I will go to Tractor Supply tomorrow and buy myself an LG. Does anyone have an opinion if I would have a chance to successfully incubate in it?
If next Monday comes and I kill all the chicks again I don't know what I'm going to do.
I told myself not to be over there in that egg section.
I should have stuck to that $5 banty auction I was looking at!
I'm bad......I'm going to try to go to sleep now. I don't think I will be able to rest thinking of 24+ Catdance babies popping out of shells.
P.S. Did I tell anybody that I'm really excited right now!

Good luck. I have eggs all over the place in the bator. First batch is set to hatch 3/26. I have one single egg I took from a broody hen because someone snuck it in the nest box. The development was way behind the others. Then I had 10 eggs someone gave me, but it looks like only one is going to develop. And then the 17 I put in today because my broody hen got off the nest and moved to a new one. I'm pretty sure the chicks are dead, but I put them back under her and put all the brown silkie eggs I have been saving in the bator. Some of them were a little over a month old, but I'm going to give it a try and see what happens. Then I have Ameraucana eggs coming for Tuesday. Wow, I really jumped in, huh? And in the barn I have other eggs under other broodies! Chick fever

I don't think my DH knows what I'm up to, LOL!

Onawhimfarm, Cali Chick is on here too.
What do you have in the bator this time?

Kim you are too funny!

I hope you have a great hatch and I hope your DH will have time to build another coop.

I have a total of 44 eggs in mine now. I am due to candle on Monday so we will see how that goes. I am very excited!

WWC, you crack me up.

Congratulations on getting all those eggs! But I agree, your DH meant you should get the eggs so you can practice hatching. I interpret things just like you!
Last week my DH gave me some spending money and I know he was saying in his sweet way, "This is for you to buy Sheri's silkie eggs!" So I did!

Don't we just love our sweet husbands. I told my dearest FIRST thing this morning while he was still sleepy. I said I have good news for you honey (now keep in mind during this story he wants another baby really bad, we just haven't had luck.....I think we're a wee bit too old) so he says you're fertile? I'm like, yeah, I am. I have eggs......and if I'm really lucky they are going to hatch little chicks. I think he was way too tired to care what I had been up to!!!! So right before we walk into church this morning, I was like, yeah, I have about three dozen eggs coming this week. He just kind of looked at me. I was like well, I bought two dozen last night. It was just too perfect to pass up. You can't kill another human being right in the church parking lot......that would be SOOOOO wrong!!!!!! He's so sweet. He's on the phone to TSC asking about incubators right now.
I keep weighing the eggs in the bator and the banty eggs look good. The Rhode Island Red eggs seem to be a little behind in losing weight so maybe it's not a good idea to do both kinds at once? I'm not sure. It is a little difficult because the first batch I weighed in ounces and it only weighed to the nearest .05 and then I realized I should have weighed in grams to get an exact measure. I have changed that now.
I am off to search on here about LG incubators.
Happy Sunday, everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, and my husband has NO time to build houses for the chickens. He has so many urgent projects before that. Don't worry, we have a garage, LOL. I am definitely totally winging this.
