Set eggs 3/5. Looking for others to hatch with!

Wow so much activity on here! I havent been on this thread in a few days! I candled my 8 buff barred cochin eggs yesterday and 5 had veins! YAY

Those were set on the 10th. I then set 24 more eggs on the 14th a wide variety of bantam cochins and then on the 15th I set 15 MF cochin eggs. I had to stack some of the eggs in the incubator. this is the first time I have stacked eggs. I was able to move 3 of the stacked eggs into the cups where I removed the 3 nonfertile eggs. I figure in a few more days I will be able to make some more room due to infertile eggs so it will work out fine.

Im happy to see you all of you are progessing very nicely!

That's me today.....completely exhausted! I've been on this emotional high being excited about picking up the Silkie eggs this morning.

It has been raining all week and instead of getting a break in the weather, we've gotten over an inch of rain today. I haven't seen it rain like this since I lived in Ohio.

Where is my California sunshine? AT LEAST I HAD MY RUBBER BOOTS, right! Anyway, we drove up to Sheri's house in the beautiful countryside. (It was wet, but so green and pretty seeing all the farms and rolling hills.) Fortunately the drive turned out to be only a 40 minute drive instead of 1 and a 1/2 hours. I must have thought it was alot further because my DH made such a stink last time I drove up there regarding the distance?

We got to look at Sheri's birds a little but it was raining pretty hard so we just went into about 4 or 5 pens that were enclosed. My son found lots of mud puddles to break in his boots-hehe! If it had been nicer, I would have taken lots of pictures. I'll post some later. Sheri showed me some of her adorable Frizzles and I was surprised by how soft they still were. She had one smooth feathered splash Frizzle that stole my heart.

Girls, the best part of my day was when Sheri looked at the 2 dozen fresh fertile silkie eggs sitting on the counter and asked if I'd want them all for $30!

And there might be 1 or 2 sizzles that hatch out. They are the Frizzle/Silkie mix - LOL! All in all, this has been an awesome day to say the least. I confess, I'm a nervous wreck about adding all those eggs to the bator. My new incubator won't get here until Tuesday, so I'll have to mix them with the EE. I'm truly biting my nails because I put in the egg turner (under the 5 EE eggs) and now I'm trying to adjust the temperature a little lower so the tops don't get cooked.

Oh-WWC-I marked the aircells for Day7 and they are the size of a quarter and all on top! So, I think my humidity is spot on this time. (I keep it b/n 30-40%)

$30???? Yeah

Oh, sizzles, huh? Since you have clearly stated that sizzles are too messy, I will kindly offer my adoption services!

That is a nice mix of colors. I'm glad to hear they're looking good. I need to go down and candle my Brahma and Ameraucana eggs. I have looked in them everyday since I put them in. Is it apparent that I'm anxiously awaiting some sign of life?

I only planned to get a dozen eggs but now I hope all 24 hatch. I am ready to convert some of the garage into a chicken coop if I need to -LOL

WWC & EVERYONE else: You have convinced me to give Frizzles a chance. However, it was only after "touching" one that I decided that I now like Frizzles/Sizzles too. I won't be kicking any out of the brooder if I end up hatching any!
Here is a picture of one of the pens (with a variety of "colors"). The little Splash Frizzle is on the upper-left...Isn't she adorable?

Adorable doesn't cut it. They all look nice. Could you go back and grab that partridge in the front right corner, if she's a girl? And I'll take the splash next to her and the grays.
What do you mean you like those sizzilie frizzilies? I wasn't trying to convince you to like them. You mean I did my own self in? I want you to hatch all 24 too!!!!!! You may have to install a live Web cam for that so I can be with you. I'm soooo excited!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I candled the five Brahma/five Ameraucana eggs again tonight. Yes, I have looked in them everyday. And what do I see

Only one developing........

I can't take another Miss Pretty situation. That nearly killed me. I'm hoping if I get it to hatch

that I will have enough chicks around here that someone will be its friend.
So I the Ameraucan eggs I bought, as of tonight there are nine. Oh, please lay this weekend girls. I have gotten nervous that something will happen to those and have put in another Facebook request to buy eggs from Little Ameraucan Mom. Let's hope she still has some and will still sell me some.
I will be running to check my FB page first thing in the morning.
Well, Cali Chick, I guess since you are planning to keep all these cuties and add on to the garage and build an attic and everything else, maybe Davony's Chicks will end up with about 40 little fluffies running around and I can adopt some of those

I set 28 silkie eggs 3/9. Candled them tonight and 27 were good. hope I can join your thread. I hatched out 5 silkies and 17 friend easter eggers last week so much fun.

Hi!!! Love your name, crazysilkielady. Congragulations on the 27/28. What colors of silkies do you have in the bator?
Oh, and in my last post I forgot to mention I dropped one of the Brahma eggs trying to put it back in the incubator. I was praying all the way to the bathroom that it really was a dud......and it really was a dud. I told myself I might as well eat the chickens that are grown because I'm doing them in left and right while they're still little.

so yesterday my bator went nuts on me... I had a power outage and a storm, now my humidity is out of control! I am calibrating my hygrometers to make sure what is going on.

I am so dissapointed beyond words this morning. My broody hen got off the nest sometime in the middle of the night. I think it might have been because she spilled her water and instead of moving the eggs in the box where she was, she buried them in the shaving and went and got a new spot. I couldn't even figure out at first where the eggs were and then I found them about two inches down in the litter. They were very cold. So I brought them in and candled them and there is no movement. I went ahead and put them in the incubator to warm up just in case there is any chance. Now I am down to just one special egg that I had put in the incubator. This is a cross between my buff/partridge pullet and my partridge roo. She had just started laying eggs finally and these were the only three I knew about. I guess I could go put all the dark colored eggs in the incubator and see if they would still hatch, as I have saved all the silkie eggs no matter what. Surely she laid more than three before going broody on me.
