Set eggs 3/5. Looking for others to hatch with!

WWC-She might sell eggs on the auction once in a while...I will ask her tomorow. Her main business is selling them as straight run chicks. You can check out her website: http://californiacountryranch.blogspot.com/p/silkie-chicks-all-ages-show-and-pet.html If she doesn't ship them, I could either mail them to you ($15 priority) OR bring them on the airplane this June (possibly).

Oh, I wanted to mention that I have ONE chick that has pasty butt -like Miss Pretty.

Actually, it's worse! He's had it so long that he has a completely bald, black boody! When I peek in the brooder, he runs over to me as if to say, "Is it time to wipe and oil my butt"?

For some reason, it's always been roosters (the big eaters) that get pasty butt for me. None of my hens did...

Hmmmm?

Thank you. I will check out her Web site. I bought a new pullet today from Premier Silkie and I told myself I WILL NOT CHICKEN SHOP ANYMORE. Sigh*******what will I do for fun now???
She looks great on the Web site. I found her last night. I could still use a few more pullets/hens, but I will take my time and look around. BUT....I would love a great splash boy for my girl. I think she would make terrific babies!. I can understand selling chicks over eggs, way more money! But so far every picture you have put up of her birds is awesome.
Too funny on pasty butt and funny looking bottoms. One day they will get their big bird feathers and look good again. My little chicks in the brooder have figured out I like to pick them up and do vent checks and they run screaming from me, LOL.
Okay, girls. Why is all of you all can build these chicken houses but me

I want to know how to do it too. I need about 20 of them.
Peach2U, love your coop. It sounds like you really thought out all of the irritating kinks in it. We put a vinyl floor in ours also, although that's as far as we got last winter. I don't know how we will ever get it built as there are about 15 major projects in front of it now.

Cali Chick, this person's birds are beautiful

Are you going to eventually get sizzles from her? I'm so glad for you that you found her.

I want to stick with the silkies because I love their soft kitten-like feathers and I think they are so "sexy" and elegant looking -in a poultry kind of way-LOL! The sizzles' feathers sort of look messy...but that's just me and my OCD, probably. I don't trust myself to have too many different breeds and varieties and colors. Maybe some day though. I would also like to get 1 or 2 Polish and D'uccle's because they are just so funny and cute looking. They crack me up.
Didn't you tell me you want some BLRWs? I found another local gal that has a beautiful breeding pair and she is selling their eggs. She actually bought them as eggs from a shipped auction from NY and now they're making babies for her! I wish I would have had my camera when I went to her house. She had about 60 chickens (all named) of about 10 different varieties. It was a fun little field trip for my son and me.
I am getting Blue/Black/Splash eggs. If one hatches out to be a splash rooster (in 3 months) maybe I can bring him for your splash girl! I wonder what the rules are for chickens on the airline? It would fit in a carry-on, but can you imagine if he crowed mid flight?

I candled today. I have 0 call ducks developing, 2 EE under the broody developing (I need to take a few more out to her), 12 EE in the incubator, 6, possibly 8 of the turkey eggs I set saturday, 4 duck eggs due wednesday, and 10 of these.

I set 10 eggs, and have 10 ducklings. First time I've hatched everything out of a batch of eggs set!

I think you're right on the messy lol. I like it though. I can't wait until my guy gets old enough to like the girls. Of course, only one silkie is laying now anyway. The others are broody, and about to get some EE eggs so I have less to worry about in the incubator.

Julie, your baby ducks are so sweet. Why do they have to be so cute? Now I want ducks too.

Your sizzle is very striking. Are you trying to tempt me with that picture?

HEY EVERYONE, I'm so excited because I just bought my first pair of "Chore Boots". What have I been doing without these? I wore them out in the rain and muck for 2 hours and my feet stayed dry and cozy. I'm jealous because I hear many of you talk about "the barn" or "all the coops" and I'm literally just a Backyard Chicken owner who lives enough outside of the city limits to have a small flock. SOMEDAY I will move to a little farm.

But with my new boots, at least I'll "look" like a farm girl the next time I go to the feed store-hehe!

I've been wanting a pair. All I ever see when I remember to look are ugly ones though. It's spring, and about to be muddy and gross outside, I need to go shopping for some cute one's tomorrow.

I just bought an "ugly" black pair at walmart for $20. But I like them. They had polka-dot ones and some colorful ones, but I'm pretty sure they were just rain boots and I wanted to look "official"!
