Set eggs 3/5. Looking for others to hatch with!

How can you go to bed???? What is your secret?????

I went to bed, but I woke up EVERY hour to check on the eggs.

Seriously, I got up 7 times throughout the night!
This morning there are 9 pips, but NO ZIPPING yet.

Should I be worried?

I know I can't DO anything, but the WAIT IS KILLING me!

If they just pipped last night I wouldn't be worried yet. I'm in the same boat as you, I've got turkey eggs that are pipped and I'm waiting for them to get a move on and get out of those eggs!

You lucky chick lady!!!!! How are you getting these little guys to pop out so fast? I need to do what you're doing.
Glad you got your mind off of it. I am hoping to see pictures in the morning. Which color pipped? I won't know until they hatch. They are all from a Blue/Black/Splash pen

I don't know how many silkies you can keep in the coop, but I would LOVE to know how you built it...and did you build it yourself? I ssssoooo need something like this that I can do on my own. My DH is probably going to be able to pencil me in about November. Please direct me, Cali Chick.

For this coop, I found a big doghouse that had a lift-up roof. We did use it to house the meat chickens, but I wanted to make it easier to clean. My DH cut the front off for me and I used wood pieces to raise the floor and construct the new interior. Then I used hardware cloth to cover the window and door. It isn't very pretty, but it is practical for my silkies. I would like to get ahold of some plywood and build another one similar. Here is a photo journey of the changes to the doghouse:

Thank you for the reminder.

Last week I had Easter Egger eggs pop like popcorn. Well, come to think of it...the first one pipped around 10 am on Thursday morning and didn't hatch until 6 am Friday morning. But, they were ALL hatched within 20 hours of the first pip.

They were really easy to incubate and only cost me $5 bucks-LOL! I guess it is more of a pressure thing when you have eggs that are really special to you.

Good luck with your turkey eggs. We have wild turkeys that run around here. I saw someone posting on CL for fertile turkey eggs. Her turkeys were actually mated by the wild ones!

I have a midget white turkey hen outside sitting on eggs. She's the only turkey I have so I'm pretty sure she's not on fertile eggs, but hubby saw wild turkeys outside his friends house down the street so there's a slight chance. I won't know for another 3 weeks though. She only gets off her eggs every few days to eat and drink, and I'm not going near that nest with her in it.

So, are turkeys "not very nice"? By the way, if the turkey isn't broody, do you usually eat the turkey eggs just like chicken eggs?

First chick has hatched and a second egg is zipping!

The first baby looks like a light blue!

Still hoping for lots of splashes!

There are 7 other pipped eggs and 4 with nothing, yet.

Come on chickies, hatch!

Cali Chick, you have been a talker this morning.....are you excited????
You bought three dozen eggs. Were they all BBS? That is the most of what I have developing in the incubator right now, but I have a fair number of porcelain and a few lavendars. I want them ALL, LOL!
I love the dog house idea. How creative. So now I am going to be on the hunt for a dog house. I found a big piece of plywood someone had out for the trash last week, but I didn't think it would fit in my SUV and I had both dogs in the car with me and I know the smaller one would be dumb enough to jump out while I was trying to nab it. I had to look longingly at it on the trip there and back to where I was going.
Does anyone on here raise ducks? My daughter wants ducks. Since she really wants a horse, I am all over this duck idea, LOL! There are some at the park we go to and they are extremely friendly. Kind of tall and white with orange legs and bill. I think it might be a Pekin. If anyone has a suggestion on friendly ducks, takes heat and cold well, easy to keep up in a duck house at night, doesn't fly over the fence and anything else I'm missing.......in other words the perfect duck......I would love help picking them out. And I found some Pekin eggs for sale. Are ducks hard to hatch out?
