Set eggs 3/5. Looking for others to hatch with!

@ wholewheatenchicken I haven't tried egg cartons do you think I could move them tomorrow?

What day are you on tomorrow? Are there any pips?

I have three pips the last I looked. I'm supposed to be doing my taxes

but I needed a break and what better way to spend it than looking at developing eggs in the incubator, pippers in the hatching box and buying some BBM D'uccle eggs over on the auction

Hi, Ryan. I PM'd JulieNKC and asked if she would be kind enough to come over here and offer advice.
I will be anxiously watching for an answer too! Lockdown is frightening for me as I did serious damage a few months ago when I tried to incubate for the first time and ended up killing all but the first chick that hatched by opening the lid during pipping! Now I won't touch the lid no matter what, LOL! I've probably gone too far the other way.

As long as you can get your humidity back up quickly and you don't have external pips it should be fine. I took all the last EE eggs at lockdown and stuck them under a broody to hatch and they hatched fine, so taking them out for a minute to do that shouldn't hurt. Make sure you use styrofoam, I've heard cardboard can suck all the humidity up. Good luck!

I just finished a hatch using the dry method. This is my 3rd batch this year. The first I knew nothing aobut dry hatch but did add a turner and tore a fan out of an old computer and glue it to the inside of my still air incubator. The first hatch I got 60%. I then did the dry hatch and had no problem keeping my temps perfect but had 3 different therm/hygrometer's and none of them read the same. That hatch I did get 72%.

I had finally decided that I was doing good enough to finally buy eggs thru ebay. I set them in my main little giant and then at day 18 I moved them to an older model...same one that I used previously. Once I got them in the second bator for the last 3 days, I had so muchtrouble keeping the temp right. If the temp was right then the humidity was way off. It was such a struggle that I thought I would lose all my eggs. I must inject here that when I was moving my eggs from the turn bator to the final bator, I dropped something onto one of the eBay eggs and cracked it big time. It cracked about the size of a nickel or quarter. I was heartsick but put it in the bator anyway. I am proud to say of the 10 ebay eggs, 7, including the cracked one, hatched beautifully. The other 3 were born live but humidty had dropped way too low, so I helped them break the shell. They were all breathing and the next moment they all died one by one. So I am proud that I got 7 blue marans out of ten. I got more ready to go into lockdown in a few days. I hope that goes as well because those are eBay eggs too.

I will remember that too in case I drop an egg during transfer that all may not be lost and just toss it.
What do you have going into lockdown?
I have lockdown every week from now for about a month or more.
I just got e-bay eggs today. They are blue/black mottled and porcelain D'uccles. I really have my fingers crossed on these. I love the porcelain color!

I am now on day 19.

Wish me luck.

Oh, I think you would be fine if you want to change out. I was running late getting mine moved this time into lockdown and didn't get to it until very late the 19th night. They are pipping and one is zipping right now. I was thinking it was closer in time than that....
And I am definitely wishing you good luck!!!! I can't wait to hear how it is going for you!!!!!

Thanks I will try to get pics of the babies after they hatch and fluff out. If they all don't pip how long should I leave them in the incubator before I take them out?
