Hi Julie!

I know. I'll try to remember to let everyone know the day its your birthday! I hope I get a trio out of the seven. You just never know with shipped eggs. If they were my own, Id expect them to walk out the shell on time. I wouldn't mind one on your birthday, but it would mean my bator temp is too high! (You know how hatchers think! LOL)

I can't correlate what I see to the size of a quarter. I have tried that method. If you knew me, you would know my brain just flips in an odd way. To me it looks weird because it's not flat, it curves down and then later it curves down and around.
Hey, maybe I will see where the kids hid my camera and take a picture while I have them out tonight weighing. Surely someone on here will be able to tell if they look good........especially mohillbilly! We'll give him something to do besides rib the girls.
I know how you feel Cali Chick. When I wear my cowgirl boots, I feel like a real woman.......just don't put me near a horse, LOL!

you mean cowgirls wear boots.....thats not what I heard they wear

I'm not sure I want to know what you heard they wear!

Okay....so I just had the most freaky, worst scare ever. It's a long story, but by now those who know me know I always am.
So I am weighing my eggs tonight and trying to get pictures. I did my four silkie eggs and my 12 RIR eggs. Everything looked good. Somewhat perplexed because on the RIR some are right on target and some are a little overweight. I am going to lower my H closer to 40 - 45% unless someone on here says that is just a really bad thing to do.
So then I decide to look in my Ameraucana egg since it's been in a week. It looked like it quit developing, but I left it in just in case it decided to revive itself.
Then I decide to look in the 17 I sat on Saturday......and then instead I decided to take them out. Yeah, I know, I'm bad about that...in/out, in/out.
So to make sure I don't kill anything I look in all the eggs for babies. I end up finding six silkie eggs. I only sat four originally

So I'm trying to figure this out and what I first thought was when I sat the four the next day I decided to add a bunch and left for the afternoon and then that night or the next day I took those back out. So I thought they had gone back in the egg carton and just kept developing. I felt like I had aliens in my incubator.
After I calmed down a bit, I more rationally figured out I must have missed two when I sat those extras in and they have been growing right along with everyone else.
I was certainly relieved when I figured out what as going on. I was scared of those babies there for a minute.
Now I have no eggs for the Easter Hatchalong. I took all of those out of my incubator. Sorry

See, I said I'm bad about in/out, in/out. I just didn't know I was going to give myself a heart attack over it.

I just found this thread. I have been trying to read the Easter thread for the information in it but I set my eggs on the 4 th of march, so was not actively involved. Glad to have found this one. I set 30 black sex links and I have goose eggs in another incubator. Less than a week to go!

Welcome! There are a lot of great people on this thread with great information. Is this your first time to incubate?

I will have to catch up on this thread....I do have a set of Sumatra/ee eggs in another bator due the 25th...

No, I have been hatching for... This is my third year but only a couple hatches a year.. So maybe this is 6 or7 for me. Usually do decent, but not 100 percent. Except for the first two hatches... They were ZERO percent. Last year I had swan eggs and had 100 percent on them but they were for someone else and had been moved with only a week to go due to a flood situation and they were shrink wrapped and I helped them all out of the shell.they all made it fine and went to new home.i will go to lockdown on Thursday with these chicks and a week later with the geese". I put in 7 more geese eggs two days ago because the first six don't look good. They were the first eggs of the season and I should have waited..

Thats great! I sat Giant toulouse and Sebastopol for the Easter Hatch-A-Long, but I have Giant Pekings due for lockdown tomarrow, and hopefully arrival on Saturday. I just found this thread too. I spend most of my time at hatch day is today, but I love poeple and hatching, so the more the merrier!

Keep us posted on the geese. (There is also a goose hatch thread called here we go again)
