SEt my eggs last Friday June 23rd after a dismal attempt a few weeks ago. Anybody set any around then?

I wont be putting mine in till Wensday, but I will join!! My 3rd try? The first 2 haven't gone so good, but I am not giving up! I also have guinea eggs due to hatch on Saturday. I have been on other threads here and would have gone MAD if not for hatching buddies!
Well I guess this will be 4th with the guinea eggs?

I will be setting Barrd Rock, Australorp, Americana and Bantys this round. My last 2 were just a barn yard mix. I hope things go better this time with these that are pure breeds. What are you "cooking" roxannemc?

I will join just to watch you roxy and hear all the great news on your babies.

HI
I am doing the dry method.... well sort of modified Humidity 30 as you said, Chickenlover WI
AND Put the bator in my closet as someone said they did to avoid drafts and temp fluctuations.

Taking wisdom from here and there.

Just read the" dry method" article .Very interesting and seemed very knowledgeable as he/she has done many hatches

Day 3 and i am chomping at the bit to candle . That article said wait until day 7...Really HARD though.Might tomorrow.
I had one egg with a tiny chip out that i am so far incubating anyway..didnt see it until i candled when i put them all in. Not sure it goes thru so didnt throw it away yet..Will see when i candled what it looks like now.
Some of the eggs looked, I dont know, sort of freckled with inconsistent color shell like sand pieces on the shell when candled .Have you had some like that
How did they do?Shapes were all very good and the seller packed them upright big end up which probably is a good idea once i thought about it. for the air cell
I am going to try and keep a record of things on the eggs .I numbered them. There are only 6 or is it 7 now ?Forgot
Had Another bad one I threw out at first .
Anyway not too much of a margine of error here.Hope SOMEBODY hatches!
I am supposed to get 5 more eggs this week.
All the same the Lavender orps These are going to be some really expensive couple chicks. Second batch to get one or 2. HAHaha.

If you are at 4 hatches that is better than me .My second.

My first didnt go well either and i am like you not giving up. but trying some new things this time.

Everyone... Are yours shipped or from your hens?
Mine are shipped and this heat i am leery about their trip here..and how this will go but cant be worse than last time (zero hatches!!

What kind of bators do you all have?.

Hope this all isnt suppose to all go on different threads, different questions..I am a little confused as to what can be put on a thread.

I have a very old, but good stryfoam still air bator. It holds and recovers heat better than the new Little Giant I bought 3 weeks ago to put Guinea eggs in, with turnner. My first go was in the old one with 12 good eggs, I think it was 6 that hatched and one died straight away. Lost 2 more with in a week. This last go was with 30 eggs and only 3 hatched. I did not get a chance to candle before lockdown, only on day 11 or 12. All looked good then except a couple iffies. Today was day 23, so I decided to grab a hand full out and canlde to see what was going on. 2 were not developed and one was full, but not moving. I cracked them open and the too only had yolkies, the other was a good developed baby but dead???? I candled the rest and about 6 more were dead and the rest not developed. I scraped them and getting ready for the eggs I have to go back in.
The chicken eggs I am hatching are from our birds. The guinea eggs came from a woman that gave them to my daughter-n-law to hatch on halves. I sure hope they do better than my others!!! The banty eggs I am fixing to put in she bought from a man with a back yard flock. There is 30 of them and now 1 from our own. I have 40 something of our chicken eggs to go in. That's going to be over 70 eggs this hatch. I really had no intention of hatching so many, at one time at least. But it has just happened that way. The kids just keep coming up with more??? I guess if the bators are running anyway it doesn't matter how many are in there???
