Ok I'm ready......I think. Candled all 22 again. Removed 10 clears and 1 early quitter. The 10 at the top I'm sure are good but the one at bottom I can't tell so I left it in because its an egg from my litte handicapped red cochin hen "Ruby" She gets picked on occasionally and if this little chick hatches I am going to put it under her since she is broody right now. I'm so excited everyone !!! Good luck to all. Here we goooooooooooooooooooo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I see that ddnonin2016 has hers in cartons. I plan to try it that way. But I want to see them rolling around. Is it a lot cleaner doing it in the carton. They have been in turners. Lockdown 1pm. Whoo hoo lets see some babies!!!!

I have never tried it with the cartons but heard some people have good luck. Gosh I hope I didn't make any mistakes. Hoping and praying for little fuzzies !!!!

It is a little cleaner, but I thought the huge benefit was the chicks that hatch do not roll the eggs for those trying to get out. I read they expend a lot of energy if they are moved out of position and can die before they pip/zip. It might not be too big of a deal if you hatched a few, but I could see what a difference it would make if you had very many. I just hatched 10 Rhode Island Reds and four Silkies and as the chicks hatched and fluffed up and dried off and learned to use their feet, they were jumping on top of eggs and zipping around in there. It would have been a huge mess in there if not for the egg crates. That was my first time to use the crates and I will never hatch without them again after what I saw going on in the incubator

The one you are not sure about, since it is a darker egg, when you looked in it was it very dark all over with the light area where the air cell should be? I'm hoping you have a chick in it!!!!!! Are you working from early in the morning to late at night this weekend?????? Your dad is going to have all the fun!!!!!!!!!
I am so excited to see pictures. The ones I had hatch are some nice colors. Two gray chipmunks, one orangey/yellow chipmunk one brown chipmunk and one for sure Buttercup baby and possibly another one. I have eight and will let three go (if I can get my DH to part with them....he already vetoed that idea). My Blue Bell finally started laying. I have gotten two eggs out of her this week. I didn't think she was ever going to let go of one! I am going to put them in the incubator when it frees up and see if they are fertile. Since she screams bloody murder every time the boys come near, I don't have high hopes there is a baby in there!
Good luck.........

WOO HOO BABIES !!! I still have another week I put in duck eggs.
But I can't wait to see all the new babies hatching this week....
Good Luck Ya'll...
