set eggs on the 13th, anyone with me?

Well, I ended up pulling out 2 of the vorwerks, one of the spangled hamburgs, and one blue orp. They were either not fertile or just did not even start to develop. All of the standards look ok. Well, I am having a little difficulty seeing through the wellies, I need a stronger flashlight. I will leave them for now. All else looks to be right on schedule. I have to leave for three days, so I am going to worry just a little. I am sure my husband will check on them as we do not have a turner and they need turned. I am sure he will do it, as he knows how important it is to me.

I will be candleing tonight and getting rid of any eggs that I need to. Sure hope that is not to many. I will let you all know what I have left. Lockdown is Wednesday. It does not appear that the little power outage I had last week had much of an affect on the few I candled last night. Just to tired to do them all. But will do that tongiht. gettting very excited about the upcoming hatch.

Ok, tonight is lock down. going in with 7 Vorwerks, 6 blue orp bantams, 1 silver hamburg bantam, 6 wellsummers, and 5 BLRW. They all looked good and I am hoping most of them hatch. Anyone else out there locking down soon.?

ok, so 3 eggs have pipped tonight. Man, I just about can't stand this waiting. I am going to check one more time before going to bed.

now one vowerk has hatched, and no other activity. I am very concerned. The first two that pipped have had no other activity and it has been about 36 hours. And I have no other new pips at this time. I know that yesterday was the hatch date, so I will wait till Monday, and then put the two that are hatched in the waiting brooder, and check out the ones still in the bator. I am hoping that since I have to work today, I will not be peeking in every hour, that several will hatch.

Okey, dokey. Looks like I have a terrible hatch here. So far I have one blue orp, one vorwerk and one BLRW, that look real good. They are now in the brooder. I have one Wellsummer that is dead in the incubator and another hatched to recently to put in with the others. I think I will just wait till tomorrow morning or late tonight if it is fluffy enough, and put with the other 3. So, it looks like I will have one of each of the breeds I had in the bator, cept the SH, on of those pipped, but then stopped. I feel terrible about this. I am thinking of opening them. I did candle them before lock down and they all had movement. I just don't know....was really hoping for a better hatch.

final post update for this thread. I have 3 out of 43 chicks. 2 more hatched but did not make it. Cracked open several eggs to find them very slimy and not absorbing the yolk. all were fully formed. I am thinking that the humidity was to high. going to make sure the things are calibrated. I know there are directions here for them somewhere. Also, got a new therm/hydro combo from the hardware store for a bit more money, going to compare the 2 for a day or two, calibrate them both, keep them going a couple more days, then try again with some barnyard mixes I have. Sure hope to have better luck next time. good night all, and happy hatching.

I'm sorry to hear that your hatch wasn't more successful. But you do have a few fuzzy butts to love on!
