Hi all!

Well, I last "saw" you a year ago with my first hatch attempt with a homemade bator. It was not successful (but I DID bring two to full term--one chirped and then died and the other appeared to pip into its own blood supply).

I am now using a real bator. This is a Hova Bator 1588 forced air. The preset temp is 100.0. Before I put the eggs in, it hovered around 99.5 and now that the eggs are set, its hovering between 99.8 and 100.0. Should I reduce it to 99.5 or not worry bout it?

thanks!

I wouldn't worry about it. Usually the preset temperature is "spot on" for chicken eggs and I incubate mine now at 100 degrees.

Thanks!

Its been toasty in the house the last few days with a heat wave outdoors. The temp has gotten to 100.3 but only for moments before the bator strops heating and lets it drop down. Its cooler in the morning and warmer in the p.m. so I think the average will be high 99.'s so it should be okay.

So far, there are 11 visible, moving embryos in 12 eggs. Jury is still out on the 12th!
