Set My First Batch of Eggs Ever Today.... anyone setting today?

I set a dozen eggs tonight! 4 duck eggs (will be due later...) for sure... I think the chicken eggs are 4 pure silkie, 4 turken-cross/1st Gen showgirl.

VERY excited about the silkie and turkens/showgirls. I just separated them from my flock two weeks ago so fingers crossed

Much to my dismay, the hygrometer I was paying 14.99 for is now teh one for 19.99. Oh well, still well worth the money.

I will be getting a bunch of mixed birds if I get any. Pure silkie would be cool. I will probably get an interesting group. I have a sebright rooster and a brahama rooster in with two polish buff laced and two silkies, one black one white. My silkies are not broody like I expected. maybe they are still too young. In the standard group I have an Ancona rooster with all sorts of girls. His favorite is a columbian wyandotte,

Did some candling today. I wasn't very organized about it... will give it a better effort when I can dedicate some quality time to it. Very exciting to see developing chicks!!! Some are too close to call and some of the brown eggs are too dark to see. was glad i did though.. found one that had a crack in it and discarded it. I have picked up on the comments of others bout exploding stinky eggs. Don't want to experience that! I was thrilled that this might actually work!!! Guess we'll find out on May 6th.

I just found my egg turner so I reorganized my eggs into that. Hopefully that will help my hatch! My first one this year was a no go... developed but no pips :-(

Okay, I just candled my eggs and all the chicken eggs are good! 2 duck eggs were thrown out, the other 2 are good. Movement in every egg :-D

I am now on day 15. I have 31 mutt eggs in there. I started with 33. Hope everyones hatch goes good. Another week to go. That last week seems to take forever.
